A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE FDNY AMERICAN LEGION POST
Founded in 1920, American Legion Post 930, a charter member of the American Legion, is a fraternal organization of current and former U.S. armed forces personnel and friends who enjoy military history and camaraderie. The Legion commemorates their comrades with services and events each year on Veterans' Day and Memorial Day. It supports numerous other armed forces events. Every year the Legion nominates an outstanding young man and woman to represent them in the celebrated American Legion Boys and Girls State Programs in New York State, an event founded by 1919 returning World War I veterans.
